چکیده

Background: In developing countries, there is no doubt that acute kidney injury and chronic liver diseases have a major impact on health. Different venom components are gaining renewed interest as potential sources of new pharmacological compounds relevant for human therapeutics. Aim: The present study was designed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy crude extract Egyptian spitting cobra (Naja nubiae) against gentamycin–induced nephrotoxicity hepatotoxicity in rats. Methods: Eighteen male Wistar rats were divided into three groups, control, gentamycin, extract. hepatorenal toxicity model induced by gentamycin (80 mg/kg, intraperitoneal) 8 days. Results: LD50 0.2mg/kg. group showed significant decrease enzymes, urea, uric acid, creatinine, malondialdehyde meanwhile glutathione reduced catalase levels increased. Histological examination mild protective with less extensive degenerative changes tissues grou Conclusion: results investigation administration proved -induced dysfunction maintain normal functional status normalized antioxidant system.

Oral Toxicity Study of the Venom of Naja Naja in Albino Rats

The venom of Naja naja has been studied clinically as an analgesic. It has been recently determined that the venom of cobra is biologically active even when it is administered by mouth. As there are no published studies on the effects of orally administered cobra venom, a 72h toxicity study was conducted in the Albino rats. We have selected 1/50 LD50 dose (7μg/ kg body weight) in the present in...

Protective Role of Adansonia digitata Extract Against Glyphosate-induced Hepatorenal Toxicity in Adult Male Wistar Rats

Background: Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide, and it poses numerous health risks to the environment and living organisms. This study aimed at assessing the protective role of Adansonia digitata (A. digitata) on glyphosate-induced hepatorenal toxicity in a Wistar rat model. Methods: Twenty-five rats were randomly divided into five groups of five animals each. The first group did not...

Prevention of hepatorenal toxicity with Sonchus asper in gentamicin treated rats

BACKGROUND Sonchus asper possesses antioxidant capacity and is used in liver and kidney disorders. We have investigated the preventive effect of methanolic extract of Sonchus asper (SAME) on the gentamicin induced alterations in biochemical and morphological parameters in liver and kidneys of Sprague-Dawley male rat. METHODS Acute oral toxicity studies were performed for selecting the therape...
